The Australian Koolie Breeders International is not a club; it is a scientifically based, association dedicated to the preservation of the genetic diversity and health of the Australian Koolie as they become more popular worldwide. The AKBI assists breeders by keeping databases of pedigrees and DNA records as well as issuing reports on the coefficient of inbreeding (COI), relatedness, ancestor loss coefficients (AKV) and other computations to assist breeders with projected or hypothetical crosses. It also provides support for testing and directs science projects with laboratories for scientific research.

Breeders seeking to join the AKBI can apply and then are reviewed by an advisory board and those found to be dedicated to the mission of AKBI will be eligible for the services offered. This association promotes scientific research and supports breeders and owners who desire to use science to preserve and promote the breed.

This AKBI encourages all Koolie owners to join and support The Koolie Club of Australia which is a membership registry and the kennel club of the Koolie in the country of the breed’s origin. Other Koolie clubs that are not registries but promote the breed and host events are the Koolie Club of America and the Koolie Club of Canada. Join the Facebook groups for these clubs who host events and seek to educate and promote the breed. All Koolie owners and those interested in the breed are welcome to join the FB group of the AKBI at https://www.facebook.com/groups/500690320113832. This FB group celebrates the Koolie with all Koolie owners worldwide. Join US!
